News Center - The exhibition ‘Urban Layers’, created entirely with recycling materials and prepared by Sculptor Akbar Sürsal, meets art lovers in Karaköy Artgalerim on November 16. Sürsal talks about the works in the exhibition as opening up to multilateralism both in form and content. Sürsal's ’Urban Layers" Exhibition will be open to visitors until December 9, 2023.
Sürsal said the following about the works in the exhibition: "We are always after images in the cities we live in with their squares, streets, historical structures and the pile of buildings added to them. Each of us watches the flowing life from our own point of view and we pass through the streets of the city with completely different impressions every time. We are not questioning whether their structures, loaded with layers like clothes passed on top of each other, fit or did not fit. Akbar Sürsal invites us to a personal image journey under our own guidance with the intricate forms he puts in front of us in his exhibition called ’Urban Layers". At Urban Layers, I was inspired by John Berger, who said, ”The Decoupling is what holds everything together."" said.
